People Watching

Peoples! Hello. I hope you are well. I spent this last Friday, some of Saturday, some of Sunday late night and some of Monday making a little game for the 3-day South African Game Jam 2026! I had great fun, and by fun I mean didn’t think too much about what I was doing (actually I thought a LOT about what I was doing but didn’t OVERthink it), just went straight ahead in Photoshop with drawing stuff the first night, wiring it up in Adventure Creator in Unity the next day, having a nice family braai on Sunday, doing some sound Sunday night, finishing sound on Monday and adding a couple more animations and doing some bug fixes and some light polish too. Aaand, that’s that! The result is a point & click game about a dude who gets sent to the Underground for the crime of People Watching, and meets a buncha interesting weirdos. And yeh. Things happen.

I didn’t listen to any music in the background during the jam, so I could focus. Also didn’t use any AI, though when I was doing sound I wanted to know a technical question about something and asked Google something and think I used the first recommendation or something AI-related, I can’t quite remember. But anyways, made an effort to not use any AI at all and rather use what I’d learned in the past about Adventure Creator and Unity (I’ve spent like 2 years working with the tools so that helped) and yeh. Thaz that. I wrote a bit about the process here on itch.

You can play the game in your browser, or you can download it for Windows.

I think I can even embed the full game here:

Or, you can watch a great playthrough by Fort Kenmai, it starts at about 1 min:

I have some other cool news but will do a new post for it, thanks and farewell for now.
